Last year, I posted a list of the all-time most popular Chinese BL novels published at Jinjiang Literature City 晉江文學城. The top novels in that list will stay quite stable without too much changes as long as their accumulated points remain high, or some new popular novels pushed them down the list; the only thing that will make them drop out of the list completely without warning is the banning of the novels! That was exactly what happened a couple of months later after I posted that list, the number 1 and number 3 novels respectively, 天官賜福 and 撒野, were banned and disappeared from the list, so if you go to check the current list now, those two novels are nowhere to be seen.
However that is not to say they are not popular anymore, it just means those banned novels are no longer available officially within China, but surprise, surprise (NOT!), you can still find and read those banned novels very easily online at many other sites, they are just not OFFICIALLY available! Hence don’t be surprised if some of the most popular Chinese BL novels are not on that list because they have either been banned, or not published at Jinjiang but at other websites, such as the 188 novels.
Anyway back to the topic… Apart from the all-time favourites list, there is also a list of the most popular new BL novels published at Jinjiang, it basically lists the newest popular novels, or still on-going popular novels that were released in the last 6 months or so. More accurately novels first published during the 6 months between October 2021 and March 2022 for this current list. Therefore if you are looking for new Chinese BL novels to read, here is the list of the current Top 50 most popular new novels (including GL) at Jinjiang as of August 1, 2022… I will also give their English translated names and links if available.
