Salt Kiss is a LGBTQ+ vertical series which will premiere on September 6, 2026 on ReelShort. OK, strictly this series is not BL but more correctly LGBTQ+ series even though I have it under the Random Ramblings on BL Dramas banner – I just don’t want to complicate my posts too much with too many categories, LOL… The drama series is based on the novel by Sierra Simone, which is the first of the Lyonesse Trilogy to be adapted into microdrama series. This will be followed by Honey Cut and then Bitter Burn later this month, also to be released on ReelShort. The Lyonesse Trilogy is a contemporary, dark, and highly erotic reimagining of the myth of Tristan and Isolde. The core relationship is not just purely LGBTQ+, but it also involves MMF (Male-Male-Female) bisexual polyamorous triad (ménage a trois) relationship dynamic.

Random Ramblings on BL Dramas – Love in the Ruck
Love in the Ruck is a 60-episode dark romance western vertical BL/LGBTQ+ series that dropped just a few hours ago on June 25, 2026 (US time) on MyDrama. This is another sport BL, but thankfully NOT inside the gazillion ice hockey rinks in the recent history of vertical series, instead it is set on the rugby pitch which I think is the first time in vertical dramas. I don’t know if calling these western vertical dramas as western BL series is strictly correct, yes they have BL elements but most of them have very macho actors in them compared to the traditional image of Asian BL from its Japanese influence that has more effeminate looking protagonists with pale skin… Anyway these “western BL” vertical series are still telling fantasy storylines instead of a more realistic LGBTQ+ representation of the real world, so I will continue to label them as western BL series, LOL…
They’re rivals on the same team. They hate each other. Everyone else can feel the chemistry.

I don’t even know where to begin with this Chinese AI drama, LOL… First of all there is no English title, the direct translation of the Chinese title 姐夫和校霸 要如何選擇 is How to Choose Between His Brother-in-Law and the School Bully? I’ve shortened it to just His Brother-in-law or the School Bully? for the title of this post… Next I can’t even find any information about the series or if the YouTube version I watched it on is the original platform where it was released! But I doubt it since it said 52 episodes currently on the thumbnail, which means that the series must have been in episodic release from its original platform like the vertical series. With Chinese AI creators currently pumping out AI dramas like there’s no tomorrow, it is impossible to know where all these AI animations came from!

My Grandpa is a BL Writer คุณปู่วุ่น Y หลานชาย Y วุ่น is a 10-episode (update to 12-episode) Thai family drama series which will premiere on May 16, 2026. This is not strictly a BL drama, more of a lakorn series with LGBTQ themed storyline… I am really looking forward to watching this series, but since the drama is airing on Thai PBS, it is very unlikely there will be English subtitles which is a shame!
