Loveless Society เพราะรัก…ต้องออกแบบ is a new Thai BL series that will premiere on November 11, 2021. It is based on the novel, Loveless Society เพราะรัก….ออกแบบไม่ได้, written by มิรันดา. The trailer looks quite good, so I hope it is actually a good series, and the plot is not slow as a turtle like a certain Thai series currently on air, fingers crossed…
Panguan 判官, or can be translated into English as The Magistrate of the Underworld, is a very new BL novel by Mu Su Li 木蘇里 which was first published online starting from April 27, 2020, and concluded at December 28, 2020.
It is another tug-at-your-heartstrings novel but with transmigration theme at its core, so I have a feeling it is going to be a hundred-and-thousand-year-old love story, LOL… I’ve just started reading the novel a couple of days ago and the early chapters with the grandpa arc was already very emotional which I did not expect… Because it is about re-incarnation, the first few chapters can be a bit of a fog to read, but they will become clear very quickly.
There is now an audio drama podcast of the novel starting with the first season currently and two songs have been released. As with my habit now, I’m reading the novel while listening to the songs…
This is the 2021 film adaptation of the Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Fumi Yoshinaga, and it is also the sequel to the 2019 TV series of the same name with the same cast. There was also a New Year Special episode in 2020. The film will premiere in Japan on November 3, 2021.
In recent weeks, food-theme BL TV series seems to be the hot trend with several series being aired or about to be aired. However so far, the two series currently on air have been atrocious to be honest. I struggled through about 3 episodes of the Thai series, Bite Me, and decided not to continue with it! Even worst for the Korean series, The Tasty Florida, I didn’t even make it through the first episode, I dropped it like a hot potato as soon as they did the ML falling into the arm of the MC scene, an over-used cliché plotline that was so often seen in BG series which immediately told me not to waste my time with this series, LOL. Another Korean BL series related to food will start on October 21, 2021, called My Sweet Dear, gosh I really hope this one will at least be watchable!
However if you want good food-theme BL TV series, do yourself a favour and go watch What Did You Eat Yesterday? the original 2019 TV series, and also the special episode from 2020.
The Immeasurable 聽不見的距離 is another Taiwanese BL short film that will premiere on October 22, 2021. It is also the sixth of the 10-film GagaOOLala LGBTQ series, Queer Up The Volume. Even though this series from GagaOOLala are labelled as BL, but after watching the earlier series or films, my conclusion is that they are more LGBTQ stories than BL stories since they tended to be more realistic plots reflecting the real world than the original “aesthetic” (the 美 in 耽美) definition of BL.
The theme song, Still Come Back 還是回到這, was an original song co-written by Eric and Kimberley (also guest vocal) for the finale performance on season 1 of the singing competition, KKNOW《TURNTABLE 輪到你了》, earlier this year where Eric was a contestant. Eric ended up as the second runner-up in the competition, and the song was immediately picked up to be used as the theme song for The Immeasurable, as early as April this year even before the short film began shooting in May.

My Love Mix-Up! 消えた初恋 (Kieta Hatsukoi 消失的初戀), or also translated as Vanishing My First Love, is a new 10-episode Japanese BL series that will debut on October 9, 2021. It is based on the serialised manga first published starting from June 2019 written by Wataru Hinekure ひねくれ渡 and illustrated by Aruko アルコ. There are two songs from the series, and one of the songs has been released in full, I’ll add the second full song when it is available.
(more…)Peach of Time is a 10-episode South Korean BL series that premiered on August 30, 2021 and just ended its first run on September 27, 2021. The series features both Korean and Thai actors and the 2 Thai actors also starred in the 2020’s Thai BL series, Why R U? The OST was only released after the series has ended, so finally we are able to listen the the songs from the series… However only audio versions are available.

Adam & Poh’s Malaysia in Australia will premiere on Thursday, October 7, 2021 at 8:30pm for a total of 6 episodes.
(more…)Dear Diary 我的巴比倫戀人 is a new 24-episode webdrama that premiered on September 27, 2021. The Chinese title actually means My Babylonian Lover. At the moment it is getting a 7.7/10 ratings (5,481 votes) at Douban, so it is one of the better Chinese dramas among the many below average dramas on offer recently. It is also getting quite good reviews online as a wacky, funny comedy and the plot is a breath of fresh air in among all the cliché romantic dramas from recent years. The first episode with the Babylonia setting and Babylonian language (not sure if they are really speaking the language or just gibberish, LOL) already got me interested… Talking about wacky, I think I’m in a silly mood recently as I’m also watching the Japanese drama, Gosh!! – Police Dog Oliver and His Handler’s Bizarre Case Files オリバーな犬、(Gosh!!)このヤロウ (love the 2 real dogs in the series, LOL, maybe I’m just watching for them), at the moment which basically is a quirky version of the Austrian-Italian TV series, Inspector Rex, which was one of my favourite TV series from many years ago.
(more…)Xiao Zhang 囂張 is another BL novel written in 2019 by Wuzhe 巫哲, of Saye 撒野 fame. Xiao Zhang 囂張 means arrogant, but the English translated novel is titled Unbridled. This is another heart warming BL novel that I also loved. I first read the novel at the end of last year after I had read Saye, but at the time there was no audio drama yet, only a fanfic song for the novel that was released in early 2020 called Running Towards 奔向. The first season of the audio drama was first podcast starting in early May this year, and so we’ve now got the theme song for the novel, this may prompts me to read the novel again, hehe… Also if you haven’t read the novel and are wondering about the drone as featured in the MV, it is a major part of the story.
