This song is the ending credits song from the 2016 Chinese LGBT-themed web series, Addicted (上癮). I can’t remember how I came across this song in the first place last year, but after I first heard the song, I love it due to its very hummable melody, even though I have not heard or watched the web series. So with lockdown and so much time being trapped at home, I searched the series to watch recently. Then… I realized the wildly popular web series was banned by the Chinese authorities in China after 12 of the 15-episode series were broadcast. Worst still, the two lead actors were also banned by the authorities to appear together in front of the cameras! What, this is the 21st century, and things like this still happened, unbelievable!

(more…)Why do sad songs always have such beautiful melody? Music composed by G.E.M. 鄧紫棋 and Jay Fung (馮允謙) especially for CoCo, with lyrics by Ting Huang (黃婷), it is a breakup song. This latest song from CoCo depicts a situation when someone who is stuck in a bad relationship, and rather than trying to endure the situation, it is better to break up, and still believed that it is better to have loved than never at all.

Written and composed by Kaijie Fan (樊凱傑, his stage name is 隔壁老樊 which translates as Old Fan from Next Door), the song has a very old soul feel, and he’s only just turned 21 in November last year!
