Random Ramblings on BL Dramas (Part 3) – Most Popular Thai BL Dramas
Too much time on my hand under lockdown… So I started doing some research on how Chinese audiences rate Thai BL dramas based on the Douban ratings 豆瓣評分, the Chinese equivalent to the Rotten Tomatoes scores… This is by no means an exhaustive list, only the shows I managed to find or know of, but it will give an indication of how popular these shows are. I have also included a list of upcoming BL series set to premiere for the later part of the year or early next year. At the bottom of this post are some trailers.

The Little Nyonya (2020 TV Theme Songs) 大陸2020電視劇《小娘惹》片頭片尾曲
This is the new 2020 remake TV series from mainland China based on the original popular 2008 Singaporean TV series of the same name, The Little Nyonya 小娘惹. The theme songs are sung by artists from Jay Chou’s music management company, JVR Music, so that got me curious to listen to the songs even though I have not watched this new TV series. After listening to the songs, I was not disappointed, especially the opening theme song’s lyrics was written by the accomplished lyricist, Vincent Fang 方文山!

This song popped up as a recommendation earlier today, I was surprised as usually YouTube only recommends Mandarin or English songs for me… I then recognised the name, WHAT? Hahaha… I must have watched too many Thai dramas in the last few months that I now recognise the name of Thai actors, LOL… Mew was one of the leads in TharnType: The Series last year, and I am looking forwards to the sequel TharnType 2 which should be out later this year or early next year. But in the meantime, let’s enjoy his singing as I quite like the song…
