This song is from season 2, episode 4 of Sound of My Dream (夢想的聲音). The song was originally released in 2007 by Taiwanese group, F.I.R. (飛兒樂團).

The title of the song is taken from the Crescent Moon Lake (also known as Crescent Moon Spring) at the city of Dunhuang in Gansu Province, China, which was on the Silk Road route. Over the years, due to exploitation of the underground resourses, the lake/spring gradually dried up and was in danger of disappearing. After learning of the condition of the lake, the writer of the song wrote the song to metaphorize a love that is about to disappear, and hopefully have the courage to strive to preserve one’s true love.

Also interestingly, although Sound of My Dream (夢想的聲音) ended in January 2019 with season 3, but according to Zhejiang Television which broadcast the show, the top 30 most-watched music clips in 2019 on its YouTube’s ZJSTV Music Channel comprised many of the songs from that show.
