The Dragon Boat Festival is just around the corner, falling on the 25th of June, 2020, this year. Dragon Boat Festival or Duanwu Jie (端午節), is celebrated on the 5th day of the fifth month on the Lunar calendar every year. Eating the sticky rice dumplings wrapped in bamboo leaves (Zongzi 粽子 in Mandarin, Chang 粽 in Hokkien dialet) is the traditional practice on this day. So I thought I would gather together some cooking videos I found on the net here for references. I will start with the Nyonya version as I am also thinking of doing a series of Nyonya cuisine posts in the future. Nyonya rice dumplings are a variation of the traditional Chinese rice dumplings originated by the Nyonyas (descendants of Chinese and Malay intermarriages) in Malaysia and Singapore.
