Truth is stranger than fiction! This 37-year-old Mandarin song from 1983 is sweeping across northern Europe and Down Under recently, making it into the Spotify Viral Top 10 in Australia, New Zealand, Norway, Sweden and The Netherlands, even taking the No. 1 spot in late June in some countries, now it is also charting in Denmark, Finland and Switzerland. What’s going on?
The song went viral this year due to a video on social media by Dange (蛋哥). This is the original version of the song used as the opening theme song for the Taiwanese TV series of the same name in 1984, well of course, there is no music video available from that era.
This is the 2010 re-recorded version of the song, the version that is charting… The verses ‘xue hua piao piao, bei feng xiao xiao’ has become the unofficial title, LOL…
