This is the new 2020 remake TV series from mainland China based on the original popular 2008 Singaporean TV series of the same name, The Little Nyonya 小娘惹. The theme songs are sung by artists from Jay Chou’s music management company, JVR Music, so that got me curious to listen to the songs even though I have not watched this new TV series. After listening to the songs, I was not disappointed, especially the opening theme song’s lyrics was written by the accomplished lyricist, Vincent Fang 方文山!
I have also never have the chance to watch the original Singaporean TV version, and lo and behold, just found out they have uploaded the original series onto YouTube just earlier this year! I think I will now go watch the original series (Update September 3, 2020: Just a note that only the first two episodes are available to watch outside of Singapore, episode 3 onwards are not available to watch here in Australia, sigh, what shame! Such a useless point to upload all episodes onto Youtube then only made 2 episodes available for international viewers!) which should be more authentic than the remake… But here are the songs from the new series…
