Rattan 司藤 is another popular TV series on air at the moment. It premiered on March 8, 2021 and it is based on a novel with the same name with a supernatural, fantasy, time-travelling storyline which rather intrigues me, so I am going to put it on my future to-watch list for the moment. It has a 7.9/10 ratings at Douban from 107,128 viewers’ votes as of today, so at least it is not a rubbish series, LOL… I listened to the main theme song this morning and loved it. It is sung by Liu Yuning who has become an OST specialist as it seems he is singing at least one song in most recent TV series! I also checked out the other songs from the OST and they are not bad either… So here they are…

【Triple Play】Light 光 EP 《光》《轉身》《上海的雨》 – Zhang Zhehan 張哲瀚
“Ah Xu, Ah Xu, Ah Xu….” Does that name sound familiar? Well, if you have been watching the TV series, Word of Honor, you will know that name for sure! Zhang Zhehan who played that character in the TV series has shot to fame from a little known actor to one of the hottest property in Chinese entertainment industry, together with Simon Gong, in just a short few weeks. He has just released a new single, 心若向陽, a couple of days ago. Then yesterday, an old MV of his from 2019 was re-uploaded onto YoYoRock music channel due to his sudden popularity. Light 光 was his first EP released in August, 2019 consisting of three songs and he wrote the lyrics to all three songs. I have never heard those songs before, so I listened to Light first, then searched the other 2 songs, listened to them, and I have to say, loved all 3 songs! This is another Chinese bromance TV series that is currently airing which premiered on March 3, 2021. However this TV series is from an original screeplay, and story set in the 1930-40s, with the two protagonists being a policeman and a doctor… Now why do I get the déjà vu feeling, oh, of course, another current series called You are My Hero, which also features a police and a doctor, LOL…

A World Where Everything Definitely Becomes BL vs. The Man Who Definitely Doesn’t Want To Be In A BL (Japanese TV OST Songs) 日劇《絕對會變成BL的世界VS絕不想變成BL的男人》主題曲片尾曲
This is a new Japanese BL series that will premiere on March 27, 2021. What’s with the long titles from Japanese BL TV series, LOL… Last year we have the cute hit BL series with a long title name, Cherry Magic! Thirty Years of Virginity Can Make You a Wizard, this new series has an even longer name! Based on the manga 絶対BLになる世界VS絶対BLになりたくない男 (Zettai BL ni Naru Sekai VS Zettai BL ni Naritakunai Otoko), this looks like it is going to be a comedy series, hopefully we can get English subtitles with the series. The theme song is Bubble Love sung by Da-iCE (pronounced as “dice”) which I think will be released on the same day as the premiere of the TV series. I will embed the MV of the song when it is available.

You Are My Hero (TV OST Songs) 電視劇《你是我的城池營壘》主題曲片尾曲插曲
This is a new 40-episode TV series that began airing on March 11, 2021. The TV series is based on the same-name novel by Mu Qing Yu 沐清雨. I only knew about this new series due to the closing theme song which appeared as a YouTube recommendation. I like the song, so I checked up on the series, and on Douban ratings, it is currently at 8.1/10 ratings after only a week from 42,496 viewers’ votes. It has been compared to the 2016 Korean drama Descendants of the Sun due to the two protagonists being a special forces personnel and a doctor.

Yesterday while I was looking for the new theme song to HIStory4 TV series sung by Andrew Tan, I chanced upon another new song by him which was released at the end of last year. It is the theme song to Taiwan’s High School Basketball League (HBL) First-Tier Division competiton for the 2020-21 season (109學年度HBL高中籃球甲級聯賽主題曲). I did not know they even have theme song written especially for high school basketball competition, LOL… It is a nice song and the MV was just uploaded a few days ago, so I thought I will just share it here while waiting for his new song to be released…

The Love Letter 唯一寫過的情書 (WBL系列影集第二季《第二名的逆襲》片尾曲) – Alex Chou 周予天
The second season of Taiwanese BL series We Best Love, named Fighting Mr. 2nd 第二名的逆襲, started airing on March 5, 2021, with the continuing story from season 1, No. 1 For You 永遠的第一名. The main theme songs are basically the same in both seasons. However the closing theme song for the second season which is also a sub-theme song in season 1, The Love Letter 唯一寫過的情書, has just been released today. For the opening theme song of season 2 (also used as the closing theme song of season 1), Hard to Let Go 分手放手, also sung by Alex Chou 周予天, please see my post for We Best Love No. 1 For You 永遠的第一名.
