Young Royals is a new Netflix series from Sweden that premiered on July 1, 2021. I saw a video that raved about it and also very good reviews from many other sources. Since it is an European series, it is not labelled as BL, but a LGBT teen series. The most interesting part is that it revolves around a prince which already makes it stand out from all the other BL dramas. It is only a 6-episode series and I have watched 4 episodes so far and loving it. I also read that many viewers are calling for season 2, so I hope it is not a cliff-hanger ending or open-ended storylines at episode 6, LOL… I’m so used to Asian BL dramas that have story wrapped up in a limited number of episodes that I don’t want to wait for months to see the outcomes of a cliff hanger season!

Update August 12, 2021: OK, watched the final episode and as I feared, it is an open-ended final moment! Overall a very good series but there is one major flaw, the disappearance of the bodyguards during crucial moments for the convenience of the plotlines, LOL… There are 2 bodyguards for Prince Wilhelm, so I guess they took turn to guard the dorm room… However the bodyguard only guarded the corridor inside the building and no one guarded the window side, that’s just hilarious. Especially now he’s the crown prince! So our protagonist could escape through the window to attend a party and for someone to stand outside the window and take a video, LOL… But apart from that, the series is very well made and most characters are believable and everyone has flaws and not perfect. I would probably score it 9 out of 10.
