49 Days with a Merman 我家浴缸的二三事 is an upcoming Taiwanese live-action adaptation of the Japanese manga series, Merman in My Tub オレん家のフロ事情 (Orenchi no Furo Jijō), by Itokichi いときち. Although the series is strictly a comedy, it does have innuendo of BL… In 2014, the serialized manga already has an anime TV adapation in Japan consisting of 13 short episodes.
On January 22 earlier this year, they announced the start of the filming for the new live-action series and a few days ago, they released the official poster, so that means the series will go to air very soon although the premiere date has not been set yet.
Although 49 Days with a Merman is not a BL series, this year Taiwan has certainly stepped up to give us more Chinese language BL series. Apart from the ones that have already aired earlier this year, we can expect a few more BL series from Taiwan in the coming weeks. SYAQ 隔離後見個面，好嗎？ will premiere next week, then Innocent 無邪 will premeiere on September 24, after that 2 more series will air later this year, 聽不見的距離 and 基因決定我愛你.

Update January 5, 2021: After the official announcement of the series in September last year, it has gone quiet for 3 months, but finally the premiere date has just been announced, this series will premiere on February 6, 2022!

Update January 9, 2022: They have released the character relationship chart, and it seems they have changed quite a lot from the anime series. I haven’t read the original manga so can only compare it with the anime. The anime series concentrated a lot on the merman’s friends like octopusman, jellyfishman, and others who came to visit him in the bathtub with hilarious results, but the characters in this live action are all from the human side, and no friends from the merman side… They are also turning the sister in the original anime story into a childhood sweetheart, so does this mean she and the merman may become love rivals, this may become a BL story? LOL…
