Fake Slackers 偽裝學渣 and Beyond the Outline 這題超綱了 are two high school BL novels by Mu Gua Huang 木瓜黄. They are both high school slice-of-life sweet, funny stories that would be good for brainless light reading during the holidays. I read Fake Slackers (also translated as Underachiever Pretenders) earlier this year and currently reading Beyond the Outline which has a body-swapping plotline, I didn’t mind Fake Slackers but not something I would go back to read again, and Beyond the Outline seems to be going in the same direction for me as the plots seem to be a bit forced, LOL… However for those of you who don’t like angst and prefer sweet stories, these novels might be up your alley.
Even though both novels seem harmless, they have recently been banned in China together with a few other popular BL novels by other authors, the online webnovels have been locked, and the printed book versions have all been banned and cannot be sold within China! Not sure what’s going to happen to the audio dramas but they are still able to be streamed online at the moment… Anyway here are the theme songs from the audio dramas of the novels…
