Well what do you know? A Chinese mini series that was purported as bromance, or even adapted from a BL novel, went online unannounced a couple of days ago on YouTube… As of now 7 episodes are available to watch…
The series is 仙尊今天洗白了嗎 but so far I can’t find any official English name for it. The Chinese title can be translated directly as Is the Immortal Master Exonerated Today?
There is not much information about the series although I did hear bits and pieces late last year after all the chaos in the Chinese entertainment industry about the impending banning of all BL adapted series. One of the big steaming platforms, I won’t name name here, decided to test the waters to see if the bureaucrat is really going to enforce the rule… Well this is all hearsay, so take it with a grain of salt… Anyway they decided to quickly make a short series with the suggestion of “BL” bromance to see if it can sneakily pass the censorship and go to air. Apparently they shot this series on very low budget in about 2 weeks. I am not even sure if it is adapted from a BL novel or not, but it has a very similar title to a BL novel called 病美人師尊洗白了嗎, but I highly doubt it was adapted from the novel (I haven’t read the novel), high chance it is just to fool the viewers by giving it a similar title… Anyway it was announced in late November 2021 that it would go to air on their streaming platform on December 3, 2021, as can be seen on the poster. I don’t think it ever made it to air at the time as I can’t find any information about it, so it must have been pulled at the last minute. A lot of the social media reportings of the series at the time have been deleted so it is really hard to find any solid information now.
Anyway a couple of days ago, at noon, January 12, 2022, the series suddenly went live on BesTV 百視TV YouTube channel internationally but you can’t find the series on their official website within China. I think there are about 25 episodes of about 3-4 minutes each. I watched the first episode and it is really low quality as can be seen from the rush job of filming the series in such a short period of time, so don’t expect too much from it…
This is very interesting news as it can only mean one thing, the testing of waters did not succeed… Does this also mean all those completed BL adapted series they have filmed may just be shown internationally in the future but not within China?
Update January 15, 2022: OK, I’m actually enjoying this series! It is a comedy! The plot is so silly and hilarious it became somewhat additive to watch, LOL… Also found out someone has started subbing the series into English…

Update January 28, 2022: Oh no, just found out they have taken down all episodes! I hope it is just them going to put subtitles on instead of removing them permanently because of the banning rule from the bureaucrats…

At the end of episode 25, it says End of Season 1… So if there is going to be season 2, they can film it very quickly in 2 weeks again, LOL… If I understood the last episode, Chu Ye did die after falling off the cliff, but re-incarnated as injured and rescued by the female sect? So basically Lingfeng is still stuck in the novel until Chu Ye is free from the demon master…
