Episode 27, Wednesday, June 11, 2025:
It’s Dough-Fest in the MasterChef garden and time for the contestants to test their team work in an epic service challenge. The teams have four hours to cook a dough-based savoury and sweet.

LOL, why is the orange team’s of lemon curd and meringue sweet on sweet, while the turquoise team’s of hazelnut praline and creme pat not sweet on sweet… During the tasting, just felt like Poh was uncomfortable in repeating the sweet on sweet script while saying she still enjoyed it… Look who are in the turquoise team, the favourite contestants of the production team… Laura kept saying she did not know how to save the praline, someone must have given her some hints of how to save it bts? Perennial conspiracy theory of production team has their preferred list of order of elimination, was Beau on their list of hopefully next to be eliminated because he’s too introverted, since he’s hardly visible? Just for that, I want Beau to do well in the next few challenges so he will stay longer, LOL… Also would have loved to know which team raised the most for charity because the orange team seemed to make the most food!

Pizza Fritta, Sugo, Salumi XO, Straciatella (Turqoise Team)

Immunity: Turqoise Team (Declan, Sarah, Laura)

What would have happened if Laura did not get the hint to bake the rough puff first before cutting? That definitely saved her some time instead of her wasting more time trying to figure out the inch and cm measurement on the ruler…

Episode 31, Wednesday, June 18, 2025:
As Sweet Week continues, a jelly-gem taste test will determine which five contestants will go on to cook a dish incorporating at least one of those ingredients for immunity.

LOL, just realized why Callum didn’t do so well last episode. His dessert specialty is mix and freeze, or mix and churn frozen desserts! So he’s not good when it comes to making cakes, or pastries which actually require techniques…

Just a note about the online branding of channel 10… So they have rebranded again at the end of June 2025, no wonder there’s no stability in their brand! I remember it was just “ten” years ago, then “tenplay”, then “10Play”, now just “10”, will you just make up your mind once and for all, LOL… Every times they rebranded, they lose all their old recipes at their old brand addresses, at least this time, they finally remember to globally linked their previous recipes at 10Play to their new home at 10…

Episode 44, Sunday, July 13, 2025:
Four contestants face off in an emotional dual duel elimination.

Does anyone feel like halfway through this season, they are just going through the motion of a foregone conclusion crowning someone we all already know is going to win? At least give us something more exciting to watch with your scripts… All the judges’ comments and editing tell us who is going, not even halfway through the episode, LOL… From the preview even before they went overseas, we can tell who are in elimination in tonight’s episode… Then we know that preview is from round 1, so whoever is paired with her (in the preview) is going to be safe in round 1, that leave the other pair who we can predict is going to be in round 2 just from judges’ comments from earlier episodes… Then the foregone conclusion is so obvious not even 5 minutes into the episode, LOL…

I finally get why this season doesn’t feel like a competition, it is a tribute to Jock season. In previous years, at least they kept the pretence of a real competition, but this year it is like they just gave up the pretence anymore, LOL… Don’t get me wrong, I still love watching the show for the different cuisines, just that I watched with opened eyes, knowing the competition part is not authentic… After all, remember that MasterChef Australia is still a reality show in its heart, since it was commissioned to replace Big Brother as the main Network 10 weekly reality show timeslot in 2009. Therefore you would notice that season 1 was very Big-Brother-like… The first seven seasons were also alternate male/female winners, until season 8 when it became too obvious that everyone watching started to notice the trend, so they stopped doing that, LOL… Then there were many a time during the final solo service challenge for the top 4 or top 3, there would be one “favourite” contestant who would go overtime with no penalty and safely beat those who served on time. Of course their dishes were better in the end since they got extra time to finish and perfect their dishes, how do you explain that as a real competition? Therefore don’t be fool into believing that it is a real cooking competition. I believe that the judging of dishes are real, but my conspiracy theory is that all the manipulation happened the episodes before the elimination/immunity challenge or during the cook to make sure the contestants that the production wanted to keep longer are not in danger… For example, Sofia’s reaction to Laura’s sauce was so obvious this episode because usually when they did the tasting during the cook, they tried to keep a straight face or be ambiguous for contestants not destined for at least the top 5… Of course that also depends on the condition that the contestants themselves did not make any humongous mistake during the cook… Just pay attention to how judges phrase the questions to different contestants or treat those contestants, with concern or confusion, remember there’s a psychologist on set…

Not implying anything but… Déjà vu… Ep 42 someone did Squid noodles (good but did not win), then a couple of episodes later on Ep 44, a certain someone also made Squid noodles (win)… Someone did Green Ant dessert on Ep 50 (good but did not win), a certain someone also made Green Ant dessert an episode later (win), LOL… The editing team is giving that certain someone the winner edit… I knew as soon as Jock is mentioned, nobody else’s dish has a chance… Having contestants who have years of professional experience against other contestants who don’t have those professional experience is so reality TV tropey type of thing to do. I realized that many former contestants who have gotten into the industry did not want to come back and compete, hence the they have to get those who just competed in the past few years to make up the numbers. In a fair competition those three who are already running their own restaurants should be giving handicap to the newer contestants to prove their worth, say, by not competing for immunity at all. Seeing two of them (not Sarah who is really being very creative in techniques and ideas and challenging herself) getting immunity every week is getting old for viewers, every immunity challenges have no meaning any more to be honest, they are just rinse, repeat, rinse, repeat…
