Yes! Night Market 我們這一攤 (Chinese title translated as Our Hawker Stall) is a Taiwanese culinary reality series which is currently airing with the final stop of its second season which was filmed in Malaysia earlier this year. The series originally premiered as a two-episode pilot on May 6 and May 13 in 2022 with the title of The Street Vendor 我們這一攤 (different English title). The first proper season premiered on September 2, 2023 with a total of 13 episodes as Yes! Night Market 我們這一攤. The second season premiered on March 1, 2025 with a total of 12 episodes.

There was no OST song for the pilot or the first season, just music scores for opening, but a song was released as the opening theme song for the second season…

Welcome to Our Hawker Stall 歡迎來我們這一攤 (season 2 opening theme song) – Papun Band 怕胖團

Below I have embedded the two pilot episodes which many viewers are not aware of…

When the pilot of this reality show first went to air, I really enjoyed the two episodes because they genuinely tried to do their best in trying to set up a hawker stall with zero experience. They also considered all aspects of the business and not just on the cooking, and when they finally opened their stall, they made sure everyone of them have their own roles in selling their food. However when the first proper season went to air, they tried to show more of the tropey chaotic aspects of the typical reality shows and included filler comedic scenes (yes, looking at you the cycling scenes in Japan in season 1) which really seemed more embarrassing than comedic… I just fast forwarded most of the time when they tried to set up scenes like that. To be fair, the most interesting parts of the show are when they learned a new dish from the professionals. At least there, we as viewers also learned how those traditional dishes are made. The other irritating thing is when they started selling, they were just so chaotic… Everyone seemed to do a little of this, a little of that without any strategy or plan of actions… Sure for the first few episodes, they were just learning the ropes and can be excused. However now we are at the concluding end of season 2, they are still committing the same mistakes over and over again like headless chickens, which is very frustrating to watch since I really like the concept of hawker stalls…

One scene which stood up about the pilots and the proper season is about the limitation of serves per person when buying, in the pilot we can clearly see the sign in front of their stall stating limit of two serves per person so there’s no confusion. However in one of the early episode of season two, they only stated the limitation on the social media promoting the episode, and nothing on their stall which is crazy since they are selling on site and not online. That says a lot about how good the participants in the pilots were compared to those in the proper seasons. Another scene from season one also showed how they were not taking their roles on the show seriously – in one episode when they were trying to secure a stall in one of the night markets, they were told multiple times they must show up the morning of the market day to register their spot, yet not one single member remembered that… I mean what’s so hard about putting a reminder on their phone even if they forgot due to busy preparing ingredients on the morning… In terms of content, I was initially more interested in this show than the other show about setting up a restaurant, but I found myself fast forwarding this night market show constantly, while I can happily watch Hi, Come In 嗨!營業中 in full without fast forwarding since the regular participants in Hi! took their roles more seriously, two of them even got a cooking/baking certificate after participating in season 1 so they can perform better in subsequent seasons.

Anyway, enough grumbling, one of the reasons I want to do this post is to include the two three episodes filmed in Malaysia here… I will add episode 12 when it is available next week…

Update May 25, 2025: Here’s episode 12… Looks like there will be another episode next week!

Every times durians are featured I want to sing the chorus of this song, LOL…

Update June 1, 2025: Here’s the final episode of season 2…
