The Promise of the Soul 靈魂約定 is a 12-episode Taiwanese BL series which will premiere tonight, June 27, 2025. It is the third instalment of the Taiwanese VBL series for the 2024-2025 season. If I remember correctly, this is the first VBL series to be adapted from a novel, all the previous VBL series were from original scripts I think. Correct me if I’m wrong 🙂
The series is adapted from the novel The Promise of the Soul 靈魂的約定 by Hsu Tzu 緒慈 which is celebrating its 20th anniversary this year since its first release as a web novel.
When 69-year-old Cha Xia’s grandson announces his intention to undergo a sex change, Cha Xia accidentally falls down the stairs with him, and his soul then enters the youthful body of his grandson. From that day on, he experiences many firsts in his grandson’s body: going to college, living in a dormitory, being kissed by a man, and falling in love.
