The Proper Way to Write Love 恋愛ルビの正しいふりかた (Renai Rubi no Tadashii Furikata) is an 8-episode Japanese BL series which will premiere as a special advance screening of the first 2 episodes in a theatre with the two lead actors on July 11, 2025 in Japan. The series will start its proper airing from the early hours of July 14, 2025 in Japan.
It is adapted from the manga of the same name by Ogeretsu Tanaka おげれつたなか, which in itself is a spin-off manga from Love Whispers, Even in the Rusted Night 錆びた夜でも恋は囁く (Sabita Yoru Demo Koi wa Sasayaku). Ogeretsu Tanaka is also the author of the BL manga Happy of the End ハッピー・オブ・ジ・エンド, which was also adapted into a live-action series last year.
The series will feature new story elements and original characters not present in the manga since the manga itself is a short spin-off with only six chapters within one volume.

During his high school days, Hiromu was a member of the gardening club but he was constantly being tormented by idiot Natsuo for his appearance and demeanor. After high school, Hiromu decided to have a complete makeover and went to beauty school, striving to make himself handsome. Now, a few years later as an adult working in a beauty parlor, Hiromu has a chance reunion with Natsuo, but Natsuo doesn’t recognize him. After they grow closer, Natsuo admits he has feelings for Hiromu and asks him out. Hiromu decides to date Natsuo with the intention of breaking up with him a month later in a grand way as revenge for being bullied during high school… but the situation becomes more complex.

Update July 8, 2025: The opening theme song is track 11 on berry meet new album, A Bouquet of Words 白昼夢、結んだ言葉は花束に which has just been released but the official English title is different to the meaning of the Japanese title, but then again the suggested meaning coincides if you think about it… The MV will be available tonight at 8:45pm Japan time…
