Marching Boys 進行曲 is a Taiwanese film that premiered as the closing film for the 27th Taipei Film Festival 台北電影節 on June 29, 2025. It had its advance screening on August 26, 2025 with the cast, and just released across theatres in Taiwan on August 29, 2025. The film is an inspiring story of a group of high school students who come together to fight to save their school’s marching band and chase their dreams.
Based on the real life Taipei high school marching band and set five years after Taiwan lifted martial law in 1992 – it tells the story of Chiang Hao, a high school student destined for a top medical college, who secretly joins the school’s marching band to chase his passion for music. When the band faces closure, Chiang and his fellow members rally together, determined to save it and reclaim its honour at a prestigious competition.
Coincidentally, the current team, Taipei Municipal Chien Kuo High School Marching Band 臺北市立建國高級中學樂旗隊 or simplified as 建中樂旗聯隊 just won the 2025 WAMSB (World Association of Marching Show Bands) World Championships in Jakarta, Indonesia.
