Papa and Daddy’s Home Cooking パパと親父のウチご飯 is a 12-episode Japanese culinary family drama which will premiere on October 4, 2025 in Japan. It is adapted from the manga series of the same name by Toyota Yū 豊田悠, the same author who is best known for Cherry Magic! Thirty Years of Virginity Can Make You a Wizard?! 30歳まで童貞だと魔法使いになれるらしい.
By the way, this is NOT a BL or LGBTQ+ series, although homophobia is hinted in the story due to the situation of two single fathers sharing a household and co-parenting their children out of necessity, so don’t get confused, LOL… The series is more about being a unique “family”, food and cooking since the manga itself features one specific dish/recipe for each chapter, so will be the drama series for each episode – for example, curry rice in the first episode and rolled egg omelette (maki tamago) in the second episode…
Sengoku Tetsu, who runs an orthopedic clinic, is suddenly entrusted with his daughter by his wilful ex-girlfriend, and Harumi Masahiro, a manga editor who divorced his wife and took custody of his son. Struggling to raise their child as single fathers, the two decide to share a house to help each other through their unfamiliar lives. The four of them (father/daughter, father/son) begin living together, but the experience is full of ups and downs and confusion – living with their tricky children and cooking meals… This heartwarming story depicts a “new form of family” that follows the fathers and children as they grow through their daily struggles.
The theme song is Recipe レシピ sung by the 8-member boy band timelesz and it will be released on November 12, 2025.
