Forbidden & Captivity | Gu Jin Nan Qiu 顧禁南囚 (some social media posts also called it Bound by Fate) is a 12-episode short-form (about 5-6 minutes per episode) Chinese BL series which was supposed to premiere on October 7, 2025 (promoted as airing on bilibili domestically in China and YouTube internationally), but it actually dropped its first episode on October 11, 2025 on YouTube, and I couldn’t find it on bilibili (only teasers and BTS, can’t find episode 1)! First of all it is already weird to hear a BL airing on bilibili in China? Seriously if it can air on bilibili, then it can only be bromance and not BL? Unless it is only on the international branch of bilibili, and NOT on their domestic platform? However it is tagged as BL on their YouTube channel! So go figure, LOL…
Then of course the title of the series Gu Jin Nan Qiu 顧禁南囚 which has been translated as Gu Jinnan Prisoner or Gu Jin Nan Prisoner online which is hilarious because that is a machine translation with zero meaning to it, and sounds like Gu Jinnan is a name of a person, which it is NOT! Looking at the Chinese title, the first and the third characters, Gu 顧 and Nan 南, are the names of the protagonists in the drama. The second character Jin 禁 means to ban or to forbid. The fourth character Qiu 囚 means prisoner, or to keep someone hostage. Therefore the title in Chinese implies the story of the two pairs in the drama, one is a forbidden love between step brothers, and the other between a captor and a prisoner…

17-year-old Wen Hai lost his parents in an accident. Update October 18, 2025: Don’t know what’s going on? The series has stopped uploading new episodes at the moment, and officially it is to be re-released around late October/November 2025, something about re-dubbing, more like re-editing? Honestly we all know what’s going on when Chinese BL got into trouble, LOL…
