The Night Before Blossom tells the story of Trọng and Hoàng, a same-sex couple living far from their families in the city, on the night of Lunar New Year’s Eve. As Tết (festival, or Lunar New Year) approaches, they share simple yet intimate moments — preparing a late-night meal, cleaning their home, visiting markets and temples, and decorating their small living space — quietly building a warm and meaningful sense of home together.
Beneath these everyday moments lies Trọng’s loneliness, his longing for family, and the unspoken distance between him and his father, who has never openly addressed Trọng’s life choices or his love. On New Year’s Eve, an unexpected phone call becomes a turning point, opening the door to reconciliation, acceptance, and hope.
Through his gentle and steadfast love, Hoàng becomes Trọng’s emotional anchor, helping him face his fears and believe that he deserves to be loved. The film is a tender journey about love, family, and healing, unfolding during the most sacred moment of the year — New Year’s Eve.
