Just finished listening to the new song from Leehom Wang which came out yesterday, it is a tear-jerker… The background to the song from Leehom:
“My high school buddy Dave Neufeglise reached out to me back in July 2018 with an e-mail that I’ll never forget. He’d been diagnosed with ALS, and had written a poem for his three young daughters, about some of the most important things he wanted them to know. Having three young children of my own, this poem went straight to my heart, and setting it to music (Dave likes country music, so I used a bit of a Nashville singing style) has been a great honor and a meaningful journey. Countless times during the process, I teared up in the studio, imagining those iconic images, one after another, that Dave writes about. They are fleeting rites of passage that might seem mundane at the time, yet when placed in the context of the song, the fatherly love embedded inside each is revealed and felt. A father’s love for his daughter is like nothing else in the world. The same goes for a song that truly comes from the heart.” – Wang Leehom

Most Popular Mandopop Music Videos (Part 1) YouTube 破億華語歌曲(一)

I can’t believe January 2020 is almost over, where has the time gone so quickly? I was going to do a post on most popular Chinese movie songs of the last decade since The Oscars is just around the corner, but as usual I got sidetracked while trying to compile a list, LOL. While doing some research, I came across a list of the Chinese songs that are the most watched music videos on YouTube. The list was for the Chinese songs that first hit 100 million views in the last ten years. So I thought, why not, and immediately abandoned my initial intention of just listing movie songs! This list is arranged by the first 20 Mandopop songs to achieve 100 million hits by timeline (that is when they first attended 100 million views), so they are not the on-going list of the current most watched music videos which will continue to change day by day.
