To Sir, With Love คุณชาย (Khun Chai) is a new 10-episode (??? updated to 17 episodes?) Thai-style soap opera (lakorn) which will premiere on October 3, 2022. It is a lakorn with LGBTQ+ theme but not necessarily a proper BL series as I think it will be more a soap-opera-type drama with an ensemble cast like last year’s House of the Dark Shadows.
The second season of Papa & Daddy 酷蓋爸爸 will premiere on August 8, 2022. The audio version of the theme song has been released…
Last year we have the Swedish series Young Royals, this year we are getting another excellent LGBTQ+ coming-of-age series from the UK, Heartstopper. Based on the webcomic and graphic novel of the same name by Alice Oseman, the brand new 8-episode series premiered on April 22, 2022. It is a very good and well told story that I binge watched all 8 30-minute episodes last night and thoroughly enjoyed the series.
The songs used in the new series are very much all previous releases from the indie pop artists around the world. However there is one new song that was released in conjunction with the series by Baby Queen. The composer in charge of the music scores for the series is Adiescar Chase.

Moneyboys 金錢男孩 is a new LGBTQ+ movie that premiered at Cannes Film Festival on July 12, 2021, but will have its general public premiere in Taiwan on November 19, 2021. The movie theme song’s MV has just been released and it is a song from F.I.R. 飛兒樂團 latest album, Diamond Heart 鑽石之心 called Someday, but the song title has been extended to become Someday We May Love as the theme song for the movie.

This is the 2021 film adaptation of the Japanese manga series written and illustrated by Fumi Yoshinaga, and it is also the sequel to the 2019 TV series of the same name with the same cast. There was also a New Year Special episode in 2020. The film will premiere in Japan on November 3, 2021.
In recent weeks, food-theme BL TV series seems to be the hot trend with several series being aired or about to be aired. However so far, the two series currently on air have been atrocious to be honest. I struggled through about 3 episodes of the Thai series, Bite Me, and decided not to continue with it! Even worst for the Korean series, The Tasty Florida, I didn’t even make it through the first episode, I dropped it like a hot potato as soon as they did the ML falling into the arm of the MC scene, an over-used cliché plotline that was so often seen in BG series which immediately told me not to waste my time with this series, LOL. Another Korean BL series related to food will start on October 21, 2021, called My Sweet Dear, gosh I really hope this one will at least be watchable!
However if you want good food-theme BL TV series, do yourself a favour and go watch What Did You Eat Yesterday? the original 2019 TV series, and also the special episode from 2020.
Innocent 無邪 is a new 4-episode BL series from Taiwan that will premiere on September 24, 2021. It has been more than a year since the production house, Soul’Chill 夏花藝術, released the 10-minute teaser around August/September, 2020, to launch the fundraising to make this web series. From there GagaOOLala came on board and it is now part of its 10-film LGBTQ series for 2021.
Love at the End of the World is an upcoming Filipino BL series. No premiere date has been announced yet (Update December 23, 2021: This series will premiere on December 30, 2021) but they have been putting out a lot of teasers lately and it looks like it is not going to be the ubiquitous innocent BL series we are used to, but more an 18+ TV series, or even more closer to a LGBTQ series than a BL series… It is an original series from GagaOOLala but I am not sure if it is part of their 10-film Queer Up The Volume series since they did not tag it as such? Anyway a song has been released from the OST and here it is…
