The Immeasurable 聽不見的距離 is another Taiwanese BL short film that will premiere on October 22, 2021. It is also the sixth of the 10-film GagaOOLala LGBTQ series, Queer Up The Volume. Even though this series from GagaOOLala are labelled as BL, but after watching the earlier series or films, my conclusion is that they are more LGBTQ stories than BL stories since they tended to be more realistic plots reflecting the real world than the original “aesthetic” (the 美 in 耽美) definition of BL.
The theme song, Still Come Back 還是回到這, was an original song co-written by Eric and Kimberley (also guest vocal) for the finale performance on season 1 of the singing competition, KKNOW《TURNTABLE 輪到你了》, earlier this year where Eric was a contestant. Eric ended up as the second runner-up in the competition, and the song was immediately picked up to be used as the theme song for The Immeasurable, as early as April this year even before the short film began shooting in May.

Innocent 無邪 is a new 4-episode BL series from Taiwan that will premiere on September 24, 2021. It has been more than a year since the production house, Soul’Chill 夏花藝術, released the 10-minute teaser around August/September, 2020, to launch the fundraising to make this web series. From there GagaOOLala came on board and it is now part of its 10-film LGBTQ series for 2021.
Light 小光 is a new LGBTQ short film from director Adiamond Lee 鑽石 who has directed other notable BL series such as Dark Blue and Moonlight 深藍與月光, HIStory: Obsessed 著魔, and Jump the Boy! 撲倒吧！男孩. It is also the fifth of the 10-film GagaOOLala LGBTQ series that will premiere on August 13, 2021. The 44-minute short film revolves around the story of an undercover cop and a male prostitute. Afalian is from the Amis group 阿美族, an indigenous Austronesian ethnic community in Taiwan. He became prominent in 2007 after he took fourth place in the first season of the singing competition, One Million Star 超級星光大道. In 2019, he also released a LGBT song, Who Am I 我是誰. The other singer, Derek, is a Taiwanese YouTuber.
Best Sisters Forever 親親壞姊妹 is the third of the 10-film GagaOOLala series that first aired on July 2, 2021. It is a short film of about 38 minutes duration only. One of the stars is a well-known music composer from Taiwan, Kuo Heng-Chi 郭蘅祈 (known by his stage name of 郭子 prior to 2014) and the theme song sung by him is a cover of the song he composed way back in 1999 for Taiwanese singer, A-Mei 張惠妹, included in her millions-selling album 《我可以抱你嗎？愛人》 (Can I Hug You, My Love?).
(more…)OK, I must admit I gave up on watching season 1 of Call It What You Want 戀愛無名氏 after 3 episodes due to the plot being told so slowly it sent me to sleep, LOL… I know they have good intention of showing us what happens behind the scenes of the BL industry, but like many BL shows, the plots are usually simple yet they told it in such a way that it drags along without anything much happening for most of the time, just a lot of fan-service scenes. So you might be asking, why am I bothering with the upcoming Season 2 now? Well, it is because of the OST!

(more…)Call It What You Want จะรักก็รักเหอะ is a new Thai LGBTQ+/BL series that will premiere on April 9, 2021. The Thai name of the series ,จะรักก็รักเหอะ, translated as “Love will Love You”. Here is the theme song that was just released a few days ago with English subtitles. The soing is sung by Aam Anusorn อาม อนุสรณ์ สร้อยสงิม (director of the series) and Michael Kiettisak.
