A new western BL drops today, May 23, 2025, on DramaBox! Loving You From the Football Sidelines is a 54-episode English vertical series set on the football field, wow, who would have guessed from the title, LOL… However glad to see we are moving away from the mafia BL plotlines…
Bodyguards by Day, Lovers by Night is a new western vertical BL which (supposedly) started streaming officially from April 22, 2025 (?) on DramaWave app. However the teaser episodes available free online seem to indicate that it was only released yesterday on April 26 since some teasers still said coming soon on Friday April 25, so never mind about the exact date of release, LOL… Anyway it is now available to watch…
One of the main leads is Paul Williams Donovan who was also in another western BL from earlier this year, Desired by My Unknown Husband. The other lead is Daniel Anerz.
In the past year or so, micro or vertical dramas have become very popular. Although I am not a fan of this less than three minutes per episode type of dramas, I have to admit I have found the western BL genre of these vertical dramas additive to watch because they are actually fast paced in story telling, so we can be drawn into the story very quickly right from the first minute. I do find this interesting because a lot of the traditional Asian BL dramas started off very slowly especially the campus ones, or mysteriously that it took a while for the story to settle down…

The Young Master’s Forbidden Butler is a 61-episode American vertical BL microseries which started streaming on February 26, 2025 on DramaWave app. So, more vertical streaming platforms are now jumping onto the English BL bandwagon after DramaBox started the trend last year…
Mafia Lover is a 20-episode British vertical BL series that was first released on January 31, 2025 (?). This is the fourth English language vertical BL series from DramaBox, so now we have 2 mafias, 1 secret agent and 1 CEO English BL stories from the app. Hopefully next they can expand on the type of stories in terms of occupation of the protagonists… By the way, season 2 of My Secret Agent Husband is also out now, although I haven’t watched it yet…
Desired by My Unknown Husband is a 60-episode British short-form BL drama series on DramaBox which started streaming on December 31, 2024. It follows another two English language BL series, My Secret Agent Husband, and The Mafia’s Obsession, also available on DramaBox. I must say although I don’t like short-form dramas, I am beginning to be sucked in to these English BL dramas, more hilarious and not taking themselves seriously than the current bunch of Thai BL, where you would be lucky to get one watchable one out of 50…
