The Imperial Coroner 御賜小仵作 is a new 36-episode period webdrama from China that premiered on April 29, 2021. Even though there are many other new big-budget Chinese dramas with big-name stars that premiered in the past month or so, all have average or bad reviews of below or around the low 7s ratings from Douban. The Imperial Coroner is an exception and it is currently getting an 8.4/10 ratings from 89,642 reviewers. Just like Word of Honor, this is another low-budget drama with little known actor and actress in the leading roles, and debut with no promotion at all. The word-of-mouth praise from viewers has made it another unexpected hit after Word of Honor.
