Random Ramblings on BL Novels – The 188 Series 188男團系列耽美小説
Currently I am in the midst of reading the 188 series of BL novels by Shui Qian Cheng 水千丞. The first time I came across this author was after watching the 2017 bromance TV series, Beloved Enemy 決對爭鋒 at the beginning of this year, later I started to read the BL novel the TV series was adapted from, 針鋒對決. Of course at the time I did not realise it was part of the 188 series, but I did notice that Yuan Yang 原煬 was really a badass in the novel compared to his watered down behaviour in the TV series.

Disguise 偽裝 – DZ 大壯
Just heard this song for the first time today, and love the song already on first listen. DZ (Da Zhuang 大壯) has a very recognizable voice with his singing tone of Northern Chinese accent. He first became known as a singer/songwriter webcaster and released his first single 我們不一樣 in 2017 which became a hit. Although Disguise 偽裝 was first released in February, 2019, I’ve never come across it until today, LOL. There is no official MV that I could find, just an audio lyrics version MV. He did perform the song in March last year in the variety singing TV show, Global Chinese Music 全球中文音樂榜上榜, so I’ve included the video of that performance.

Random Ramblings on BL Dramas (Part 5) – Teasers & Trailers 2021
Part 4 is getting too long, so I’m moving all the trailers for BL dramas scheduled for 2021 into this post.
Update June 30, 2021: There will be no more updates of trailers in this post for new BL dramas premiering in the second half of 2021 because there are just too many BL series that I have trouble keeping up with. Instead I may do new posts occasionally for teasers or trailers of shows from July, 2021 onwards that look interesting.

The Light in the Night (Audio Drama Theme Songs) 廣播劇《默讀》主題曲
A few days ago, news came through that another Chinese BL novel by Priest (the same author who wrote “Guardian 鎮魂“) is being made into a 35-episode TV series, Light the Darkness (tentative English title), for 2021. The novel is Modu 默讀, and has been translated into English as The Light in the Night (original Chinese novel published from June 2016 until January 2017), but expect the TV series to be bromance and not BL since it is being made in China. Shooting of the series is scheduled to begin in February, 2021.

Wish You: Your Melody in My Heart 나의 마음속 너의 멜로디 (祝願你：我心中你的旋律) is a new 8-episode BL drama from South Korea that has just premiered on December 4, 2020. Funny that, South Korean always makes short BL episodes with just about 10 minutes per episode… Below are two OST songs I have found from the series, but they are just audio versions at the moment…

Hikaru no Go (2020 Chinese TV Theme Songs) 真人版網絡劇《棋魂》主題曲片尾曲插曲
Hikaru no Go is a new Chinese TV series that premiered on October 27, 2020 and just finished its run of 36 episodes on November 26, 2020. It is a story based on the Japanese manga series from 1999-2003 centred around the Chinese board game Go 圍棋. It has a Douban television ratings of 8.4 (76,864 votes at the time of writing of this post) currently, so I decided to watch the series yesterday. Episode 1 has already got me hooked, so that’s a good sign for me to continue watching the rest of the series. By the way Hikaru no Go ヒカルの碁 was also made into an anime series in Japan in 2001 and that original series has a Douban television ratings of 9.2 (47,358 votes as of the writing of this post). Secret Love (“Manner of Death พฤติการณ์ที่ตาย” Theme Song) – Tul Pakorn ตุลย์ ภากร ธนศรีวนิชชัย
Manner of Death is a new Thai BL series that will start November 30, 2020. Finally a Thai BL drama series that is not centred around University! I have been looking forwards to this new series which will reunite Max Nattapol and Tul Pakorn, who both starred in the 2017’s BL series Together with Me. The theme song to Manner of Death is called Secret Love and it is sung by Tul Pakorn.
