Desired by My Unknown Husband is a 60-episode British short-form BL drama series on DramaBox which started streaming on December 31, 2024. It follows another two English language BL series, My Secret Agent Husband, and The Mafia’s Obsession, also available on DramaBox. I must say although I don’t like short-form dramas, I am beginning to be sucked in to these English BL dramas, more hilarious and not taking themselves seriously than the current bunch of Thai BL, where you would be lucky to get one watchable one out of 50…

Silent Sparks 愛作歹 is a Taiwanese LGBTQ+ telemovie first aired in Taiwan on December 29, 2024, but premiered months earlier at the 2024 Taipei Film Festival 台北電影節 on June 24, 2024. The film has also been selected for the Panorama Series to screen at the 75th Berlin International Film Festival which runs from February 13 to 23, 2025.

The Nipple Talk 妮波自由式 is a 10-episode Taiwanese romantic comedy series with LGBTQ+ theme which will premiere on November 1, 2024. It has been compared to the 1990s’ American series Sex and the City but has more focus on the LGBTQ+ storylines… The opening theme song has been released and it is sung by the current OST queen A-Lin.

Love in the Big City 대도시의 사랑법 (Korean Movie & Series OST)

Love in the Big City 대도시의 사랑법 is a South Korean comedy drama film and also a drama series respectively and they focused on different aspects of the story which is adapted from the novel of the same name by Park Sang Young 박상영. The LGBTQ+ film premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival on September 5, 2024 and released in South Korea on October 1, 2024. The 8-episode BL series is scheduled to premiere on October 21, 2024 but there is a big problem at the moment for the broadcaster with protest from uneducated community groups in South Korea and all promotions for the drama series have been withdrawn due to pressure from the protesters. Therefore at the moment it is questionable if the drama series will get to air or not…

See You 為我辦一場西式的喪禮 is a Taiwanese LGBTQ+ movie which has its special mystery advance screening 神秘場 on the night of October 14, 2024 in Taipei where there was a meet-and-greet with Accusefive 告五人 who were tasked with writing and singing the theme song for the film. The film will have its general theatre release on October 25, 2024 in Taiwan.

Recently it seems Taiwan is fashionable in making AI dramas, this new drama continues the AI trend following another AI themed BL series Anti Reset 恆久定律 earlier this year and its upcoming spin-off Eternal Butler 全面管控 in the VBL series.

Century of Love ปาฏิหาริย์รักร้อยปี (Thai Series OST)

Century of Love ปาฏิหาริย์รักร้อยปี is a 10-episode Thai lakorn series which premiered on July 10, 2024. This is another lakorn series with LGBTQ+ theme (well, BL if you insists, haha…) from Thailand’s Channel One31 following the very successful To Sir, With Love from 2022 and last year’s series Laws of Attraction. I have watched the first episode at normal speed and it didn’t disappoint, at least I didn’t have the urge to watch it at 2× speed like I do for many Thai BL series in the last couple of years and then drop it after just one or two episodes, LOL… Another thing I judged Thai BL series nowadays is whether the theme song is sung by a recording artist or not, if it is I usually have more confidence about the drama having interesting plotlines. On the other hand, if it is sung by the two male leads, then most of the time the drama is trying to attract audiences who just want to ship the two leading actors and not too worry about the plotlines!
