The Mafia King’s Contract Groom is a 28-episode AI vertical BL series that dropped its first episode on Series Vision in December 22, 2025, well, that is the earliest appearances of the drama that I know of… It then dropped in full around January 16, 2026 on MoreShort, and it has just landed on GoodShort as well just recently in early April. I have resisted watching AI dramas before but I finally watched this one yesterday and I have to admit it is quite funny, very anime-like. You have to treat AI dramas as a new form of animation, well basically that is what it is, except it is animated as “real-life action” rather than a drawn animation.
Whatever you may think of AI dramas, the characters created by AI will never replace real actors and actresses because they are not real and have no soul, they can only be compared with drawn animated characters! Think of the celebrity status of real actors and actresses, viewers and fans will always want to dig up gossips or meet them in real life, that will never happen with AI characters created from someone’s imagination. Moreover I think AI dramas will have difficulty in establishing themselves in traditional mainstream dramas or movies since AI still cannot create emotions which is a deal killer. It will only exist in vertical drama since it is the fast food of entertainment industry but hey, who knows I may be proven wrong in the future, LOL…
I have tried to learn to animate using AI, boy, was it hard to do! Not only trying to keep character consistent, the background is even harder to keep consistent! AI just give you randam background if you don’t prompt it specifically, even if you do, AI still adds random details, LOL… So as I was watching this drama, I was also looking at the background to see if they are consistent!
To pay for his critically ill sister’s medical bills, Noah, a straight man, reluctantly takes a job at a high-paying gay bar, where he faces sexual harassment from a gang of thugs. In the midst of the clash with these thugs, he unwittingly draws the attention of the mafia king, Gideon. Just when Noah believes his life is about to end, Gideon does the unthinkable — he proposes marriage to him.

Although the story is complete, the ending says this is Season 1, so expect another season for new storyline…
