The Legend of Kitchen Soldier 취사병 전설이 되다 (Korean Series OST)
The Legend of Kitchen Soldier 취사병 전설이 되다 is a 12-episode Korean fantasy military comedy series which premiered with its first 2 episodes on March 24, 2026 at the Festival Séries Mania 2026 in Lille, France. It was officially released internationally on May 11, 2026. The series is based on the webtoon series adapted from the webnovel of the same name by J. Robin 제이로빈. I binged the first couple of episodes over the weekend and I can say, the series is really funny in a absurd way and I am enjoying it so far… And the food will make you hungry! Some of the silly moments do resemble the plots from the vertical dramas, but done way, way better and funnier… If you are also a fan of classic American comedies, the setting of this series being an outpost reminds me of M*A*S*H and its mess tent…
Equipped with only an apron and a ladle, Kang Seong-jae becomes a legendary cook in the army.

Random Ramblings on BL Dramas – Stableboy
Is SkyDec a thing now? Following Poolboy and Waterboy, Sky Kawai and Declan Clifford are back with a new series! Stableboy is a western vertical BL series which will premiere on May 27, 2026 on ReelShort. Get ready for Sky to get Declan to wear some ridiculous skimpy outfits again, LOL… Got to say ReelShort has got some interesting shows coming out at the moment which I have already talked about, like the sequels to Taming My Bullies, and the genie one Djinn Under Contract… There is also another new one about the Master of Magic called Don’t Blink, You’ll Miss It, which sounds like the magician version of the cooking king/queen type of plots, LOL…

Carter Reed (American Vertical Series)
Carter Reed is a 65-episode vertical series that dropped on May 22, 2026 on ReelShort. The drama series is inspired by the novel series of the same name by Tijan Meyer. I haven’t watched it yet but the male lead is Jared Staub who was also in Jacked Janitor vs Golden Boy which I really enjoyed so this new one is on my list to watch, LOL… Anyway since it is based on a novel, I think the story should be solid as well…
(more…)Djinn Under Contract (American Vertical Series)
Djinn Under Contract is a 67-episode vertical series that dropped on May 21, 2026 on ReelShort. This is something different from the ubiquitous plots of so many vertical series as it is a supernatural genre with a genie as the central character. Among all the recycled tropes of vertical series, this is also one of the few that reverses the gender focus being that the male lead is the one that is being treated badly by the female lead. Only one other vertical drama that I’ve watched has this same plotline which is America’s Favorite Ex-Husband from 2025. This new series is nothing groundbreaking as such but a refreshing break from the usual tropes of vertical dramas…
