BL Metamorphosis メタモルフォーゼの縁側 (Metamorufōze no Engawa or translated literally as The Edge of Metamorphosis) is the live-action film adaptation of the award-winning same name manga series by Tsurutani Kaori 鶴谷香央理 that premiered in Japan on June 17, 2022. It is a story about the odd friendship that formed between a 75-year-old widow and a shy 17-year-old high school student through their love of reading BL manga. Interestingly a 4-episode BL series also premiered on the same day on Hulu Japan called I Just Want to See You 君のことだけ見ていたい (Kimi no Koto Dake Mite Itai) which is based on the manga story within the BL Metamorphosis live-action film! There doesn’t seem to be an OST for the series I Just Want to See You 君のことだけ見ていたい, so I am just mentioning it here as I won’t be doing an individual post for it.

Minato Syouji Coin Laundry みなと商事コインランドリー is a new 12-episode Japanese BL series that will officially premiere on the night of July 6, 2022 (or more accurately in the early hours of July 7, 2022) on terrestrial TV in Japan. However it will be exclusively pre-distributed tonight, June 29, 2022, at 9pm on Japan’s online video service, Paravi. This new series is based on the manga of the same name by Tsubaki Yuzu 椿ゆず. The official theme song has already been released which is quite surprising as usually theme songs for Japanese BL series are released only after the show has premiered…

Senpai, This Can’t be Love! 先輩、断じて恋では！ (Senpai, Danjite Koidewa!) is a new 8-episode Japanese BL series that premiered on June 16, 2022. It is based on the manga of the same name by Harekawa Shinta 晴川シンタ. There are two songs from the OST, and so far only the closing theme song has been released. Incidentally the opening theme song, which is yet to be released, is sung by two Japanese VTubers (Virtual YouTubers) from ROF-MAO!

Old-Fashioned Cupcake オールドファッションカップケーキ is a new 5-episode Japanese BL series that premiered on June 13, 2022. The drama series is based on the manga of the same name by Sagan Sagan 佐岸左岸. To be honest, I’m so glad to see another BL that is telling adult story and not the campus-everywhere BLs that I’m so over with by now, LOL…

Plus & Minus +–正負之間 is a new Taiwanese and Japanese co-produced BL series that premiered on April 15, 2022. However it has taken them nearly 2 months to release the theme songs from the series. Apart from the 2 theme songs, there are 4 other songs from the OST, of which 3 are still yet to be released. The three songs that have just been released are also available in audio only…

Wu Di In Love 無敵愛上你 is the first Mandarin language BL web series from Malaysia that first streamed online from February 14, 2022 to February 25, 2022. However it’s not the first Malaysian BL series, the first was the Malay language BL series that streamed in December last year, Stay Away from Me.

I had a quick glance at episode 1 and the screaming girls in the first scene is not a good sign, LOL… However I like the theme song which is sung by Taiwanese singer, Afalian Lufic 盧學叡…

KinnPorsche: La Forte (Thai Series OST)

KinnPorsche The Series: La Forte is a new 14-episode Thai BL series that premiered on April 2, 2022. The series is based on the webnovel of the same name by Daemi. Outside Thailand, the series is available on the international branch of the Chinese streaming platform, iQiyi. It is very interesting as China banned all BL series but international branch of the Chinese streaming platforms such as iQiyi, Bilibili, & Tencent (WeTV) are now all very active in streaming BL series outside China! The official Chinese title 黑幫少爺愛上我 means Young Gangster Master Fell in Love with Me, LOL… By the way, La Forte version of KinnPorsche is the uncut full version of the series available on iQiyi…

Anyway two MVs of the theme song have been released from the OST…

Heartstopper (British Series OST)

Last year we have the Swedish series Young Royals, this year we are getting another excellent LGBTQ+ coming-of-age series from the UK, Heartstopper. Based on the webcomic and graphic novel of the same name by Alice Oseman, the brand new 8-episode series premiered on April 22, 2022. It is a very good and well told story that I binge watched all 8 30-minute episodes last night and thoroughly enjoyed the series.

The songs used in the new series are very much all previous releases from the indie pop artists around the world. However there is one new song that was released in conjunction with the series by Baby Queen. The composer in charge of the music scores for the series is Adiescar Chase.
