In the past year or so, short BL series available only on YouTube channels have been popping up online. I’m not talking about just the short-form vertical series, but also short episodes filmed in wide-screen. The Secret of The Secretary 甘くて、危険な恋の魔法 & The Guy Next Door 옆방 남자 are two such short BL series made by SEEKFilm and available on their SEEKMedia channel.

イケメン留学生の愛情表現がオレには効きすぎる, or translated as The Handsome Foreign Student’s Expression of Affection Works Too Well for Me, is an upcoming Japanese vertical short-form BL series which will premiere on August 21, 2025 on the Japanese short-form app, FANY:D. At the moment, there is no official English title, or the number of episodes as far as I know… There is also very little information about the series, and the teaser is quite ambiguous, but they did hashtag it BL in the teaser, so I believe it is indeed a BL series, LOL…

Love Sea: The Home for Lovers | Love Sea ～愛の居場所～ (Japanese Series OST)
Love Sea ～愛の居場所～ (translated as Love Sea: A Place for Love) is a 10-episode Japanese BL/GL series which will premiere on the early hours of August 12, 2025 in Japan. Adapted from the Thai novel Love Sea ต้องรักมหาสมุทร by MAME, it is also a remake of the Thai series from 2024.

Random Ramblings on BL Dramas – Japanese Microdrama Series 2024
In the past year or so, micro or vertical dramas have become very popular. Although I am not a fan of this less than three minutes per episode type of dramas, I have to admit I have found the western BL genre of these vertical dramas additive to watch because they are actually fast paced in story telling, so we can be drawn into the story very quickly right from the first minute. I do find this interesting because a lot of the traditional Asian BL dramas started off very slowly especially the campus ones, or mysteriously that it took a while for the story to settle down…
